Questions?

I have prepared a list of frequently asked questions and answers to help you make a buying decision.

CAN THESE BUSES BE BOUGHT IN READY TO GO CONDITION?

Yes most of our INVENTORY buses are ready for delivery. They have been thoroughly inspected by licensed school bus truck and coach mechanics. They have passed a diesel heavy or light duty emission test. They have been certified and come with certification papers. They can also be sold with an MTO ANNUAL INSPECTION yellow sticker.

CAN THESE BUSES BE BOUGHT IN “AS IS” CONDITION?

Yes. Some buyers prefer to have their mechanics perform a safety inspection and do the Annual Inspection on their own.

ARE THEY IN GOOD CONDITION?

Yes these buses have been selected and inspected by an expert. If any repairs are required, they are performed by licensed bus and truck mechanics. They may have some surface rust on the bumpers, or along the sides, or over the wheel wells, or around the rear doors. This is normal for these buses and easily repaired. There are no holes or perforations in the body. Remember these buses are more than 12 years old. Many buyers paint these buses and do some minor body work while they are having them painted.

WHAT TYPE OF ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DO THESE BUSES HAVE?

Most of these large buses all have an International 7.3 turbo  diesel engine unless otherwise noted. This engine is very sturdy and can last for hundreds of thousands of kilometers if they are properly maintained. The short buses usually have a 6.0 liter engine after 2005. The Ford E-350 chassis that this bus body was added to was the best selling truck body in Canada and the United States. The transmission in the large buses is usually an Alison AT545. The transmissions in the short buses are normally a four speed automatic and can give years of trouble free operation if it is properly maintained.

HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT THIS BUS TO LAST?

These buses should give you 2-3 years of trouble free driving. The secret is to maintain them by having them inspected regularly by a qualified mechanic. The motor oil should be changed every 6,000 – 8,000 kms depending upon the type of driving you do. We recommend changing the transmission fluid and filter once a year during the annual inspection. They will require regular brake servicing and depending upon how many kilometers they are driven the brake pads and  rotors should last at least 1-2 years.
