All of our buses can be sold with a Ministry of Transportation Safety Standards Certificate. In July of 2016 a new and more rigorous Motor Vehicle Inspection became law. A safety standards certificate is a document that certifies a vehicle’s fitness. You can buy and register a vehicle without a safety certificate, but you cannot put your own plates on the vehicle or drive it without one. These Inspections can only be carried out at a Garage that is a MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION STATION. These Inspections are valid for 36 days.
The Highway Traffic Act requires the inspection of numerous items on a vehicle before it can be sold. The report is divided up into 11 sections.
Section 1 is The Powertrain.
Section 2 is the Suspension.
Section 3 is the Brake Systems.
Section 4 is the Steering components.
Section 5 is the Instruments and the Auxiliary Equipment (if any).
Section 6 is lamps and Lighting.
Section 7 is the Electrical System.
Section 8 is the Body.
Section 9 is the Tires and Wheels.
Section 10 is the Coupling Devices (if any).
Section 11 is the Road Test.
All of the lights must be operational. The front end parts including the ball joints and sway bars are checked very carefully for any excessive wear. The springs must be working properly and cannot show signs of damage or any cracks. The shock absorbers must prevent the vehicle from bouncing and cannot be leaking. The exhaust system and fuel systems must be in working order. The tire pressure must be measured and the tread depth is recorded. The wheels are removed and the Brake Drums and Rotors are measured The body, all glass and mirrors and the electrical systems must be in good shape.
In short, all of the safety equipment must be in good working order.
